Terms of Use
Last updated 9 October 2026
By using Plait you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
What the service does
Plait uses generative AI to produce a new, enhanced image based on a photo you upload. The service is provided free of charge and on an "as is" basis, and may be changed, rate-limited, or withdrawn at any time.
Important: the output is an AI re-render, not your original photo
This is the most important thing to understand about Plait. The enhanced image is newly generated. The AI may alter lighting, colour, plating, camera angle and background, and the result can differ from the dish as it is actually served.
If you use these images to advertise or sell food — on a menu, a delivery platform, a website or social media — you are responsible for ensuring they are not misleading. Under the Australian Consumer Law, representing a product in a way that misleads customers about what they will receive can expose you to penalties, regardless of whether an AI produced the image.
Our guidance: only publish an enhanced image if the dish you serve genuinely looks like it. Treat the output as better photography of your food, not as a licence to show food you do not serve.
Your photos and your rights
You must own the photo you upload, or have permission to use it. Do not upload images containing other people without their consent, and do not upload anything unlawful, offensive, or that infringes someone else's rights.
You keep whatever rights you have in your original photo. We claim no ownership of your uploads or of the enhanced images you generate — you are free to use the output commercially, subject to these terms.
Third-party processing
Your photo is sent to Google's Gemini API for processing, and Google's terms apply to that processing. See our Privacy Policy for detail.
Acceptable use
Do not attempt to circumvent rate limits, automate bulk access, resell access to the service, or use it to generate misleading imagery of products you do not sell. We may block access that we reasonably believe is abusive.
Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded. Beyond those rights, and to the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the service or of images it produces, including lost profits or reputational harm, and we give no warranty that the output will be fit for any particular purpose.
