Privacy Policy
Last updated 9 October 2026
This policy explains what Plait collects, why, and who it is shared with. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
What we collect
- Photos you upload. Processed to produce your enhanced image.
- Your email address, only if you choose to join the waitlist or sign up.
- Your IP address, held briefly in memory to enforce rate limits and prevent abuse of the service.
Your photos are sent to Google
To enhance your photo we transmit it to Google's Gemini API, which performs the image generation. Google processes the image under its own terms and privacy policy. If you are not comfortable with your images being sent to Google, please do not upload them.
We do not retain your original or enhanced photo after your request completes. The enhanced image is returned directly to your browser and is not written to our storage. If you want to keep it, download it — we cannot recover it for you later.
Email addresses
If you give us your email, we use it to tell you about Plait — launch news, product updates, and offers related to this service. Every message includes a one-click unsubscribe, and we action unsubscribes promptly as required by the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). We do not sell or rent your email address to anyone.
Where your data is held
Waitlist records are stored using our hosting provider's infrastructure (Vercel), which may store data on servers outside Australia, including in the United States. By submitting your email you consent to that overseas storage.
Cookies and analytics
We do not set advertising or tracking cookies. Our host records standard server logs (including IP address and request time) for security and reliability purposes.
Access, correction and complaints
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@plait.digital and we will respond within 30 days. If you are unhappy with our response you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes affecting how we use your email will be notified to subscribers directly.
